About Rotary Clubs in Dunedin and New Zealand
The Club organising Duck Day, Rotary Dunedin East, meets every Tuesday at Chisholm Park Golf Club rooms at 6pm for 6.30pm. Rotarians from anywhere in the world are invited to attend our meetings.
Rotary Dunedin East, one of eight Rotary clubs in the greater Dunedin region, raises funds and provides labour for activities that benefit the communities of Dunedin, New Zealand and worldwide.
In addition, the Rotary Club of Dunedin administers a number of trusts that provides funds for many organisations and individuals.
Rotary’s motto, ‘Service Above Self’, embodies Rotary’s humanitarian spirit. A global network of business, professional and community volunteers, Rotary provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.
Dunedin East Rotary Duck Day
Rotary Dunedin East Duck Day, a fun afternoon out for all involved. Including the people who buy the raffles in the small duck race, those involved with the Business Duck Race, (including employees of Duck Sponsors) and representatives from the nominated Charities.
Other Activities on Duck Race Day
Other activities in the area on the day included the markets, The Classic Wine festival at the Stadium, and sausage sizzles on the side of the Water of Leith. To set up the day and allow people to watch the race from the side of the Leith, The Otago Polytechnic kindly allows Rotary Dunedin East to use their car park off Anzac Avenue.
All of the nominated Charities receive money proportionally from the Business Ducks raced less operating costs. The first past the post received an extra top up from the raffle proceeds.
